Cat6 UTP indoor network cable provides significantly higher performance than Cat5e, offering data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps over short distances (up to 55 meters) and a full 1 Gbps up to 100 meters. It operates at a bandwidth of 250 MHz, which reduces data bottlenecks and latency for demanding tasks like 4K streaming, gaming, and heavy file transfers.

Key Technical Differences

• The Internal Spline: Unlike Cat5e, standard Cat6 indoor cable features a physical plastic cross-separator (spline) inside the jacket. This permanently separates the four pairs of twisted wires to drastically eliminate crosstalk and interference.
• Thicker Conductors: It generally uses thicker 23 AWG or 24 AWG wires compared to the 26 AWG wires commonly used in budget Cat5e patch cables.
• Indoor PVC Jacket: The outer layer is made of standard flexible PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) or FR-LSZH (Flame Retardant Low Smoke Zero Halogen). It is built for internal wall routing, conduits, and patch setups but lacks the double-shielded water-resistant PE coating required for outdoor layouts.
